Firing up the engines

Things have been scattershot around here for the past month6 days, certainly a break from normal. I’m glad to be back, back in form featuring a life that’s back to my kind of ordinary. There are alot of big things in the works that I’m looking forward to rolling out such as the BeeHive project, a possible film project and a new website. Stay tuned.
Here are a few spots that have caught my eye in the past few days….

Great thread on this weekends’ Kite Scene. (i was not there)

This is an absolutely reckless trip report from a local forum that I have been lurking around for a little over a year. The photos are out of this world while the story of this hike is pitiful at best. Whats even more interesting is I am the only person to question its integrity (page 2: D.Baggins), in regards to slaughtering local wildlife, burning illegally in designated Wilderness and….oh read it for yourself, there’s a number of other infractions. Its important to me that anyone who reads this doesn’t get the idea that this is acceptable. I’m really hoping for some intelligent comment here, I know some of the readers at NWH come here and frankly if Ive missed something then I need to know.

More and more people are talking about early Winter. People who know about this sort of thing are talking about it and I’m beginning to believe. That first shred of hope has cast its light upon me. Wish Winter luck.

This is an article I stumbled on this morning during my rounds about Grizzly Bear encounters and the like. I think its well written, I am not a hunter but I have an immense respect for the Wilderness and the creatures that call it home, as we once did. Take a second and read this through, note the comment section at the end of the column, I asked a question regarding the authors statement about the North Fork of the Shoshone River mistaking THAT river for a section of river in Idaho…..got my river territories mixed up…but the authors reply is a reminder of how small our world has become, and how great the power of light-speed information is. Article here. When your done take 5 minutes and watch David Attenborough’s take on beavers’, in the BBC blip on the upper right.

There was a question the other day about the usercloud on the right of the screen. That cloud is built by you and it helps everyone navigate about the network easier. The cloud refreshes itself every 24hr period, noting which user has been using the site within that period and then if that user has included a website in the registration process it will redirect you there once you click that users name. Its a great tool, so register on the site and get to redirecting. More than a handful of regular readers have used it to connect locally so if you haven’t registered yet then get on it. Don’t worry, we wont tell your mothers where you’ve been.

We’ve done this before, but then again we have been doing it for years. Ask anyone.Night Music. Obviously when you’ve arrived, use the listen tab.

Im off to watch the Colony, Im obsessed with post apoc culture. Heres the trailer if youve been under a rock for the past 8 weeks.

Welcome back, thanks for reading and good night.

you are better than those actually..and those are good but at the end of the day think about the intelligence level of the person taking them and then ask yourself, can I do better. You already know the answer.
what do you think about the story? Is it true? Did I miss something in some sick translation?
I have some ideas for you though with your camera…some really good ideas. Lets drink and plot.

well, they are elitist hypocrites. If anyone else had written that trip report they would be all over them for condoning shooting, fires in the wilderness and reckless endangerment of fellow hikers. The story isn’t true…they are seasoned hikers and know better. However they shouldn’t have written what they did. Not everyone is smart enough to differentiate from snark and what is acceptable in the wilderness.

I’ve stopped paying attention to what they write, I just look at the pretty pictures and wish I hadn’t been so damn lazy this summer and had hiked more.

  4. Ugh, NW Hikers. I rue the day you ever pointed me there… naw, it wasn’t all bad. But those people are so weird… I better delete my account. Wahoo!

  5. i was going to delete mine, that TR irritated me so much but I decided to keep it and just lurk instead……..
Im disgusted that nobody called them out, it must be some sort of an inside joke; at the end of the day though lets say it was my first visit….hell lets not. Lets say I have been hanging out there for 2 years and even now I dont get it. Its reckless and assenine.
