Just wrapped up the final screening of the pre-season 2k10 Shred with Warren Millers’ Dynasty. I dont normally go to Miller screenings because the main focus is typically skiers but tonights swag was too good to miss so we loaded up and headed to McCaw Hall for the party. As these things go it was mellow, not alot of crowd noise, a little more formal but the footage was stunning. Im a huge Johnny Mosely fan and he has narrated the past 3 or 4 Miller films, but for me as a first timer on the big screen it was really exciting to listen to him weave the tale into the screen as it unfolded before us. I actually really liked the film, esp the Chinese bit where the old timers are ripping up the backcountry with handmade planks, pretty cool to see it.
I walked out with a couple free lifts at different hills around the Coast but most importantly I have two lifts for Aleyaska now, when combined with free airfare, youve got one hell of a weekend in Anchorage this Winter. Stay tuned for that, my first AK lines are going to change my world, I can feel it. It was really cool tonight when we first showed up, I was the only one without a ticket so I was looking for a kiosk and a random guy had an extra ticket and just gave it to me gratis. It was a really good seat down by the stage but I hung tight with my crew and we poached a row of seats up top. Thanks regardless for the gift, that was really big.
Its really hard to believe that Sessions have already begun and heres whats even more insane: Stevens Pass BACKSIDE opens tomorrow! This is unprecedented…its unreal how much pow has been dumping in the Cascades so its time to get after it and make the most of whats here. Two months back I called for an early season and a hard season in the lowlands…so far Ive been spot on. Im like the kindly old man with the fur cap and smoldering pipe who just nods wisely into the winds. Clicking on the pic will get you…or me to the webcams quicker than anything else you can think of.
You’re All Welcome.
