On Christmas morning 2k9 I got up early as I always do and I made my way to my freinds house with about 4 hours to kill before first chair at the Mountain we ride every year on this day. I typically see Ron once a year and only on Christmas; so there is a fair amount of catching up to do as we sit around a French Press talking stories and trading information on conditions of the mountains we both ride regularly, and bartering for goods one of us wants that the other has. It was different this year in as much that he had picked up a ski film to play in the background and help the stoke, since conditions that day were pretty gnarly. Turns out we watched it twice that morning, it moved me deeply. Its not so much something about ski-ing, its more about what it means to live and breathe the mountains, what they give to you, what they say to you and what they take from you. Needless to say Ive been away from my desk since before that day, but I was able to order the film and receive it this afternoon; Ive already watched it twice tonight. Steep is a must have for anyone who spends any time in the mountains or is curious about those of us who do.
