Weekend report

I spent one night on the road and two nights in the mountains this week. I worked all of 3 days this week before any of that; turned out somehow to be the longest 3 days Ive ever known. My night sleeping on the road was the most honest sleep Ive had in weeks and I only did it so I could drive through the mountains with the sunrise, I heard it was spectacular and by God it was. Once in the mountains I dropped anchor and went back to bed, slept til noon, had a cold beer for breakfast and sorted through the weeks’ mail, played around in the moleskin and ultimately spent a lazy Friday afternoon riding alone at Stevens Pass.
Eventually the solitude ended, the lot filled up and my weekend warriors gathered at the fire, telling stories, swapping booze and chopping wood deep into the night. The weekend carried on beautifully: riding all day in classic Spring conditions, drinking and talking stories all night with the finest bunch of boys you could ever imagine; its one hell of an outfit up there, us locals.
Here’s a little Bob Dylan that’s been blowing through my head all weekend.
