this story has been sinking fast since yesterday, likely because in this country Laurence Fishbourne’s daughter is more important.
When I first read this, it sent me into a lengthy and colorful rant about the slow death of the Yankee. That’d be all of us here in the States. Im sparing you the rant, filing it away for another day but the reality is that Net Neutrality is a big fucking deal and we are going to lose it, hell or highwater.
Pay attention kids, this is the very end of the good old days as you knew them and now we sit: just about rock bottom.
Im told to imagine the Internet as an old country road a superhighway of information. Ok I can do that easily enough, that’s what its been for years….
Now imagine im on that highway and I see an express lane coming up, an express lane with a toll booth. Pay Verizon/Google extra at the booth and you can use that lane, holy shit that lane is fast! Using that lane makes you cooler than everybody, your in a jetpack while we are still over here jacking our spurs off into our little Internet Burros. Soon more and more people pay the toll, less and less use the old country road we all grew up on and eventually they just blow the fuck out of the old country road because well, nobody uses it anymore. Its alot like going back 20 years….no fuck that: 10 years ago when everyone laughed about the death of the newspaper, no way in hell that would ever happen, we will always have print, and mass levels of it! Blow me.
Dont believe me? Here: NY Times on Net Neutraility and backroom deals.
Fuck the Apocalypse and fuck the speed at which we are throwing ourselves at it.
I feel like quitting the Internet. But then what would happen to NinjaMotorhome.
