Pirates, motorhomes and lemonade

I just spent 45 minutes at Facebook reading and responding to birthday wishes. I think I got every one of them in reply, at least that was my intent. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes, thoughts and yes, facebook pokes.
Its growing late on a Saturday night, back in the warm, digital embrace of the web as I suck down vodka lemonades’ to stave off this oppressive heat. Im reading up on Khat tonight, not because I managed to get some for my birthday……no that would never happen. Im just reading about it because……well…..the pirates in Somalia get all tuned up on it before they go hijack the living shit out of tankers off the Puntland Coast…something Ive spoken about many times here on Ninja. Naturally I have questions about it: why do pirates like it, what is it like, etc etc. Turns out on the Wiki link above, it is specifically banned in Missouri (amongst other grave condemnations) Why is that I ask myself, What does Missouri have against Khat?
Im just curious is all. Its nothing really, just a chalky, bitter, high seas skullduggery novelty that you better be ready to chase with booze…….at least that what I imagine it to be. Wikipedia says it will get you really jacked, and wiki is user based…..so that must be true, but again….I’m just a reader, an innocent bystander with a passionate interest in the cultures of other communities and countries, particularly pirates.

There’s been alot going on in the beeyard the past two weeks, something I will talk about over on Shipwreck later in the weekend, likely Sunday. Stay tuned over there for that. Those bees have been raising all sorts of hell, methinks they’ve been chewing that devil weed: khat.

The setlist for the week includes another wide array of artists, spanning genres with acts such as Arcade Fire and Dierks Bentley, Ive got a mixtape coming from 8tracks, I will release that any day now. Its an odd collection of sound for sure and likely only enjoyable to myself.

Its been one hell of a week, living all sorts of ways in all sorts of places amongst all sorts of people. Im always interested in peoples reaction to the motorhome, you can never predict what its going to be once people actually realize that what they are seeing in front of them, or driving by them is real. It never fails as I hoist the colors on her once we’ve dropped anchor, someone always comes up and says something like: “Christ on a crutch what in hell is that!” I laugh every time, a big hearty laugh as I explain whats’ obviously a 20 foot flagpole with a jolly roger at the top of the mast. This week we met a guy who couldn’t believe my rig was even real, I invited him and his kids up to the motorhome lot at Stevens Pass next Winter to live the dream with us and he couldn’t believe we did that even. He was a really nice guy who wanted to connect with his kids more, especially his son who was getting older and drifting away. He left us that night with all sorts of gifts and promised he would see us this Winter up there. I love how motorhomes bring people together, moreso when tied in with something that really, most people wont even consider doing: Winter Camping. I am a Winter man, hands down. I love being in the harshest yet gloriest of Seasons in my wheeled cabin of doom. Winter brings out the best in people, its when you have to work to stay alive, when every decision makes an absolute difference. I tell you what: there’s no vodka lemonades on a laaaazy Saturday night in ……wait a second: Yes there are. Lots of them!!!!

Im turning this thing off before I ramble even more about Winter, pirate drugs and vodka lemonade. Ive clearly lost my mind.

Heading deep into the Northern Range with one: black motorhome and one: smoking hot Asian for 36 hours of much needed r&r. All mobile broadcast devices are shutting down promptly @ 9am Wednesday morning. When we come out on the other side I will be 34 and no less for the wear.

33 is wrapping itself up nicely and Ive lived to tell the tale.

Ive been playing with shopping carts on GoDaddy lately, with thoughts of honey, assembled/ready to use beehives, snowboards, my really horrible homemade art, and general miscellany. I wonder what I can sell online? Probably anything I want. My super intense sharpie renditions of different backpacking trips I have taken may look childish and silly, but will easily earn topdollar. The most obvious place to start as a peddler/pusher is with a cofee mug that doubles as the late night vodka berth so here is what is going to happen: Im looking to make hangover mugs, big sturdy ninja motorhome mugs. Each hangover mug can be custom outfitted to your needs, for example one would say Skipper, one would say First Mate for that special lady and of course one could say….oh I donno….Woodbin or Deptuy Mayor….the list can go on forever. Most of you pirates are going to be reading this from Facebook so ping me there or leave a comment here if you have something you want your personal hangover mug to reflect. Its Mothers day people therefore I get a pass and get to tell you about something I did. Something I did…………to my gramma. See, Im a gramas boy through and through. I throw the bones with her and her cronies, mow her lawn, pressure wash her decks and clean her cars anytime she wants (Except Ski season). Gramma is convinced we are at the end of Days, and if you cheat during dominoes she references that as further evidence that the rapture is close. Close because someone cheated.
You better watch out when your around my gramma, she will put you to work, crush you with chores, then make you lunch, talk about the end times and bring out those bones as soon as ten of her homies show up with cases of cookies for me. She watches those cookies like a hawk while pretending not to, looking at em sideways making sure I dont like THOSE cookies more than I like HER cookies. Gramma has me on lockdown big time, I like it…she is a good egg.

Last year during one of our dominoe sessions I casually injected into the conversation how great it would be if she sold her place, bought a motorhome and dialed in her life as a nomad, something she sneered at while trying to divert my attention from her shifty, crooked hands which were switching out bones, illegally. I shook my head and muttered Apocalypse then went on idly about the joys of not having a giant house to care for, with outbuildings, lawns etc etc. Over the course of the year I chiseled away at her now and again, not really taking it too seriously, but chiseling nonetheless. Remarkably however after all this time, she has done just that: sold the house and liquidated most everything, and is shopping for a land yacht to park at her kids place deep in the Mountains! I am stoked, she is salty as hell, and still every bit a pioneer. Major moves like this require major grit and I cant believe she really did it. She did query suspicously that I just want her to die off and then collect her new motorhome, which I responded simply enough: what can I do with 44 feet of mega deluxe motorhome? Its way to much for someone who plays as hard as I do. I did threaten to park mine next to hers every chance I got, just to make her friends who dont know me nervous.
Its Mothers Day, good on Grandma bucking the odds and taking a huge bold move. Im proud of her.
She gets the Pirate badge now.

Finally caught up on all outside projects, related directly to having the availability to spend serious time at the keys, and cleaning up the aggregate of mess that has built up here over the past month. Behind the curtain of this operation sits a boneyard of clutter that I just havent had time to maintain lately. Also in the forge is a newer, faster and stronger Shipwreck Honey dot com. I am looking for a new laptop to mobilise this pirate ship since Im noticing more and more every day how Im tethered to the desk, Droid simply isnt cutting it, voluminously.
Somewhere online I read that today its Mothers Day, I believe I have a Mother out there to call and attempt to make blush and a Grandmother to make giggle. But first all of this. It is 5am after all, these are respectable women we are talking about here.
Trouble Andrew is in Seattle today, skating and tweeting about kush. I might have to go find him, betcha anything he will be downtown, skating street.
Tomorrow is the long awaited and slightly delayed Trouble Gang Mixtape. Tomorrow is also where I saddle up the dark horse and drive deep into the Mountains to an undisclosed lake where on its shores sits an undisclosed RV park where I will drop anchor and sit quietly for two days, scratching into the moleskin, thinking, and breathing that good wild air. Its been a month since Ive left the city, thats just too long.
Ive been thinking alot about the way we use twitter lately, Ive been on twitter for maybe two years now, irreverently of course. I keep an extra account at for my beekeeping operation in hopes that I can actually get serious once in a while and actually tweet something that makes a difference instead of calling everyone scumbubbles and bitching about whatever is holding my attention at the moment. Like Wilford Brimley.
Following me on twitter isnt for everyone. Clinical studies show that in some cases following me on twitter can cause hives and or restlessness.
