The 67-page online publication, written in colloquial English and launched last month, features flashy graphics and punchy headlines like “Make a Bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom,” as well an article on global warming said to be written by Bin Laden.

Fox News pays off in spades every few months, this one is a jackpot. ……..admit it, Bin Laden writing about global warming is funny.

Its been a hellday/week, Alaska in Winter plus cookie abuse carrys’ me through. Dont expect much out of this spider-hole this week other than utter scattershot, find me elsewhere in the usual dives: WC, Tw, FB and PSK. Also very visible at blip.fm and SixtyOne, my newest addiction. You can see on the lower right side column an aggregate of feeds all linking back to various jukeboxes I like to kick now and then. Once I have an actual live feed built over at sixtyone I will post up and together we can while away those long Winter nights, huddled eagerly around the internet.
Speaking of live links……Im in no mood to light any of those UP THERE up so dig, there are shallow graves all over this joint that will get you to any of em, in no time.

Its been a really wild week with very little sleep to be found. Its funny how a wild week 13 years ago was defined by intentionally not getting a lot of sleep and now its just insane how life wraps its tentacles around your legs and won’t let you up for air; hence a wild week…. of utter responsibility. There are a lot of projects on my plate and I don’t seem to have the time to catch just to get started on even a fraction of them. There is finally a rough draft down in my head of a project that I consider the final cut of my most exciting effort, the soon to be revealed publishing. I have to put the blueprint to paper over the weekend and then push the idea to some people whose help I need, photographers and writers I know. I don’t want to talk about it too much but I’ve been sitting on it for some time and am excited to begin.

Last night I was able to sneak away long enough to get to Urban Surf’s wind clinic down at the shop here in Seattle. They had a full house and a really good presentation describing local kiteboarding spots and talks on how to read winds, waves, other riders, boats…etc etc etc…Basically everything on safety and having fun on the water. They had some food lined out and cold beers/sodas. I had a Wienhards and it was really good. It’s a strange thing to say or read, but I don’t drink a lot of beer and this beer last night was really tasty….like a marshmallow or something. I recommend it, go to QFC or wherever and find Henry Wienhards, if that’s even how it’s spelled.
Back to the class: I bought a super cheap disc with the class embedded on it and am looking forward to reviewing it. I’ve gotten a real kick out of my side of this sport b/c I haven’t really done much with it and I’ve already learned so much about limitations and respect that in reality I didn’t know before. Kiting is huge, physically and mentally its bigger than I am and I didn’t understand that until I took to the water a month ago with a fully powered kite dragging me underwater like an outlaw being dragged through the desert behind a horse in the old days of vigilante justice. I knew immediately in that moment of surfacing after the initial scuttle that I was in for something big and I needed to slow down and shut up. It didn’t matter how long ive been on a board or what I could do on one, it mattered only that I respected my environment and listened to it. Its been really fun being a student, learning something this raw and most importantly, being eager to slow down and study every angle, willing to take all the time I need. After I switched my thinking gears towards this, everything opened up for me and now Im really proficient with the little kite, body movements, etc etc. I look forward to my progress. I wanted to burn my little kite once I was so mad at it. Really. Fact is I didn’t have a clue what to do with it. I think that’s really funny.

Ive been reading a lot of news this week about the potential of political violence; last week I noticed Pelosi’s speech about the growing unrest and really absurd threats aimed at our President and I spent a lot of time pondering it because I agree: The angry mob rhetoric grows up and out of control more and more. I realize in the big picture it represents a minority of citizens but the issue is the type of citizen it involves. All this resonates with the census worker who was found hanged with the word FED written on his chest earlier this week. It’s hard to know yet exactly what took place with the death but just the facts now as they stand are unacceptable, in sentiment alone. Anyone who says we are headed for a Civil War is partially right, but mostly wrong: We seem to me to be already there. I recall the phrase United we Stand, Divided we Fall and I worry for the country.

Michael Moore has his latest project out now, and Mike Shinoda just released a short on his project: Glorious Excess. I surfed through ten minutes of G.E. and turned it off. I don’t want to see it, I’m surrounded every day by it and don’t want the reminders. Same for Moore, I’m sure I will be hearing enough of it sooner than later.

My friend gave me his copy of Tropic of Cancer this week and I’ve begun reading it, taking little bites here and there as the moment allows, and the week before that I gave another buddy a book on the history of Washington’s most notorious outlaws which he claims to not only have now read twice, but requested an extension so his buddy could read it. I’ve got my own book club going on here it seems. I’ve also been paying close attention to the western snow reports; oddly enough things are optimizing for an early season in a lot of places. I’m holding fast to my forecast still but bear in mind, I reserve the right to tweak and adjust at any time, this forecast of mine.

This weekend brings time at home behind my keyboard as well as the Premier for Cool Story @ KingCat, see previous post below for times and dates.
