The bottom fell out of the Northwest regional forecast for the next couple of days, Im convinced that NOAA is lying off their scurvy asses even now when they say tomorrows high temp @ 5k feet will be 35 with a low of 33. Sounds like all hell has broken loose in this new slushed out world. There is nowhere to go but as of FRIDAY I secured a 3 week holiday wherein I jubilantly planned on chasing snow in 4 different states: Montana, Idaho, Washington and Alaska. What can anyone do with a warm weather vacation?! It makes no sense to me….The forecast is the same for any mountain I look at: warm and wet. I will keep everyone posted on where I am at over the course of the next few weeks, and what I am doing there…….

Follow my Twit-Grinder for boozy, real time alerts, massively inappropriate commentary on whatever Im looking at, twit pics in case words fail me as Im looking at something and Bukowski style consumptions and consequences. I tweet, alot. None of it is civil, be warned.

This is my earliest vacation to date, normally I leave @ the end of the first week of the New year to lock in those bitter cold temps….and big powder days. I hope this year I havent blown a premature load.

Its been known to happen.

Wish me luck…..Ive got two trucks full of gas, and a motorhome stuffed with supply (read: bottles and bottles) enough for a multiweek trek. I really dont know when Im going to end up where Im going, I just know Ive got 4 states to pillage in 3 weeks.

Things sort out fast in Deadwood- Al Swearengen

Swearengen might as well have been discussing ninja…

Another weekend has passed, in the same fine styles of most the others. Thursday night found the Bearded Menace waiting for an inbound flight from Texas, which carried an old friend in for a weekend of skullduggery and what have you. Waiting for an airline is a see and be seen kind of world so I headed to Queen Anne’s best dive, the Mecca to pass the hours until such time arrived to launch myself towards the 11pm pickup @ Seatac. By 8pm it was determined that said flight was not to arrive til the morning, allowing me to put my full attention to the task at hand, with an associate who shall not be named, so the innocent and goodly in soul may not be woefully tarnished by nature of association. Scuttling off towards the Lockspot with the unknown associate we eventually settled at the bar and began perusing photos of the Beard and Moustache chamionship which she recently attended in good old Anchorage AK. It was later determined that the unknown associate is an anti semite and even worse: a bee-hater. If it was possible for me to know love, it would have been that very moment as the most impossible of all creatures presented herself to me, with mischievous delight. The night was animated, and 5am found me limping home, the walking wounded. After 2 hours of sleep I was up and en-route to airport to pick up the Texan, whereupon the usual assortment of Seattle touristy activites commenced, starting with my favorite: the obligatory breakfast at the Terminal followed by a wedge of pie and cup of joe. Feeling human after the bump the day was attacked. Out that night for birthday drinks (the celebration will never end) with friends on Cap hill and other assorted activites it was home in bed by 1am and up again at 3am for surfcamp in Ocean Shores.
Camp/Oregon was great, I picked up a new kite/kiteboard/ with all the fixin’s which set the bankbook back a bit but as usual with such toys in my quiver; well worth the price. Further down the line when I am more dialed in with how to actually operate the gear I will post pics, links and tales from the waves; for now you get nothing.By 11am we were well fed, had camp pitched and were armed with kites, boards and a few beers already downed, thusly: struck off towards the surf. The day was spent accordingly, everyone took advantage of whatever condition they were at the beach for whether it be sun, wind, waves or ho’s. I personally couldnt get it up all weekend, and by that I mean the trainer kite. I have an idea that the device is faulty and I think I know why but im saving my final thoughts on this for when I actually know hands down that I am right. When that time comes there will be kite-shop reviews to review, one or two of them fiery and scathing.
In the end it was another great weekend for the books, thanks to all the rogues I know. The drinks, the deals, the dealers; the winds, waves and weather….all of it was good.

We now return to regular broadcast, thanks for reading. As usual: comments are open.
