I’ve been hanging out around alot of LA/Hollywood/Vegas blogspots for a few weeks now and not sharing them, I might show you guys where I’ve been lurking in the free time…..they are good timekillers, blogs just like this one and like this one, they are geared to what each owner wants to focus on and they are all………hard to turn away from.
Does that make sense? Should I even be at the wheel right now? The funny thing about that sentence burning out of my fingertips is it reminded me that I dont have a drink nearby. Vodka/lemonade is the order of the month.
lets get one now, Im in bed by 9 tonight, watch me.

Sunday really was June 5, 2k11. Sunday really was a shred day, we went to Crystal and ripped around the mountain all day, just killing it in the Spring ski Mtn vibe, it was exactly what needed to happen. About ten of us went up, the whole crew was really tight so it made the day even better. I peeled off mid afternoon and hiked up a ridge to get some freshies that Id spotted earlier in the morning, it was blazing hot up there, I took my shirt off at the top and chilled in the snow/sun, watching everyone below me, the mountains around me and just taking it all in, the air tasted so freaking good. I realized what a crazy time 2k11 has been, I dont know that Id really stopped to think about it all before Sunday afternoon up there all alone……its insane, whats been accomplished in the past 5 months.
The website is done, my attorney has finished up his stuff, the accountant is dialed in and working on what needs done, the bank is pleased to see Shipwreck money coming in but bummed I had all the capital already mustered to start everything up comfortably. Shoulda seen the branch manager’s face when he got my answer to his question: how did you fund all of this, Daniel? That moment will be one of those times you wont ever forget, it felt good…never felt better in fact, when that little word comes out my mouth: cash. Everything is finished, there’s contracts coming in for next year and for some reason Im not tired. I think I should be dead…I certainly went through moments when I wanted to be dead, or was certain Id end up dead from all this effort….but here I am, standing tall at the Helm again.
Feels good.
Snow is good for people, its good for me. Mountains are good, motorhomes in mountains are even better.

After the sessions in the snow we sat on the patio at Crystal and had a few pops, checked out the band and told our stories of last season to each other before heading down to the Naches Tavern to throw back some red bull/?’s. Horseshoes, nachos, red-bulls, stories, crazy assed biker dudes and drunken loggers were the order of the night, we all had one hell of a time.
Thats whats up, its nice to write about even if it is poorly written……We will be heading back at the end of the month, anyone wants to come is more than welcome to join the party. You only live once, may as well make it count.

Daniel.

oh hey guys, check it out: Shipwreck dot com is up and running.

What a week its been, Saturday night found me on the tail end of a 45 hour, 3 day shift at my real job, I had barely limped in the door of my house when the phone rang with a report from Salish Lodge that my Hives had been toppled by thugs sometime earlier in the evening. Skipped dinner, skipped the rain-locker and jammed gears into the setting sun, racing to save what I could in my beeyard. Getting up there was tough, I was bone tired and generally in no mood to suffer fools or tourists, seeing the Hive toppled on the ground was almost heartbreaking. Alot of work and passion goes into these things and needless to say I wasnt a happy beekeeper but I got everything shipshape, tucked my girls in and made plans to come up the following day after work which by this time was 6 hours away. Working the Hives by headlight killed the truck battery so I had to get a jump…..time was not on my side this weekend, not one bit. Got home late and immediately racked out, the next morning the only thing that saved me was the sheer brilliance of the Presidents Correspondents Dinner routine. To see the razor wit of our President leveled at every loudmouthed douche in this country couldnt have made me happier or prouder. He tore into Trump with ruthless precision and therefore, Palin. It was even more incredible once we realized Bin Laden was done, the cool and calm of this guy is impressive, when he jabbed Trump about decisions that Trump has that would “keep him up at night”, he secured not just the first laugh, but is so many ways, the last laugh. Good for him and good fur us, the Country needed the boost, even if it will wear off soon who cares, its good to feel so fiercely united again, even in death. I couldn’t believe the White House briefings with the reporters feebly dismantling the operation and sort of suggesting that we mercilessly shot an unarmed man, do these fools not get it? Doesnt seem so.

The Press release went out this week, that was exciting. It feels really good to have this project out loud finally. Does that make sense? So long its been so hushed, its great to see it unstoppably in motion at last. My phone went nuts the day the release went out, lots of people didnt know and were caught off guard when they saw it on the news or wherever they picked it up at. From Harbor Avenue to Alki Point I am known as the Beeman, my 5 minutes of fame was about that long but it felt good, awkward at times but overall very good. My grandma was the funniest, I dont know if she didnt really think I was doing this….but she was floored when it all came out. Cute, she is.

The new Hives are all very strong and doing really well, the first batch of eggs have been laid and this is the only time in the history of these colonies that I will be able to predetermine and premanage the first hatch. I have roughly 2 week before I get my first big clutch of bees, clutch/hatch whatever. Its going to be nuts when they all drop at the same time. Afterwards it will be all bees, all the time in every stage of brood or larvae imaginable. I sat in the yard today reading a book, soaking the sun and enjoying the gentle roar of the honeybees that are flying back and forth, I cant wait for the first big hatch, the sound of the Hives will be….magical; an organic symphony awaits.

Ive been having a serious problem this Spring with line-cutters, I have always been too fast and too loud for this town but with the business now I have been making a huge effort not pointing out my grievances in real time. I have all these planned responses now for jack-wagons and yard-birds who cut me off in line, PARTICULARLY AT STARBUCKS. Heres a few:
What a nice day, your _____ is adorable. (puppy/baby)
Wow its really raining out today.
Sure do love that salt air.

All of this through clenched teeth Im sure but its a start. I got into it really bad a few weeks ago at a Starbucks with a complete toolbox who was standing 10 feet away from the order window, I was at the window myself, behind a random girl whose order took forever. She finally got her foo-foo whatever with extra whip and took off, I stepped up and placed my order then toolbox cut right in front of me and ordered his. I called him out immediately and told him to get in line, he reminded me he had been in line. I asked him just how in hell all the way back there was “in line” and he said he was stretching his calves, I laughed derisively and said no you werent stretching your calves, your were texting your boyfriend. He didnt like that. The situation continued, the halfwit Starbucks barista MADE HIS DRINK FIRST!!!! It really torqued me so i gave him more nuggets of social wisdom the entire time. I was wearing a big Carhartt jacket that had a Mine logo emblazoned on the back, he noted I “lived in Idaho” and curtly said it was surprising someone from Wallace would be so fast on the draw, I pressed him when he said he’d been there, many times. I told him he had never been there once and if he had, he wouldve been beaten down then strung up in the center of town for being such a prick. None of that would have happened of course, but it had the desired effect as he whimpered away. Today I got cut-in again, at Starbucks. I left my wallet with my girlfriend and went outside, a marked success if you think about it. Also been behaving in traffic, another incredible victory…particularly with the cabbies.
Dont get me wrong, Im a stand-up guy but like anyone, I dont like being walked on, if somebody doesnt take a stand for personal rights then this will continue unchecked and as we all learned in the Big Lebowski: this aggression will not stand, man.

Thats all Ive got today, there’s plenty more in queue, see you guys in a few days.
Thanks for reading and remember: dont let the d-bags cut you off, they can wait in line like the rest of us.

Then and now, I like em both.

New week, new money and new issues; guess you could say its nothing new.
We built a new Facebook thing this week so Ive been “logging in again”, getting reminders of why I cant stand the place, all the time. I dont get the Facebook hype, its desperate in there. Im building a brand though so I need it, right?

Was gonna go to Idaho last night for a Memorial even though the logistics were completely insane, if I could have found a quasi bush pilot, I would have made it. In the end I spent a surprise 15 hours working in Seattle so Im glad I didn’t shell out the quid to get in the air, would’ve been a double whammy of bad.

We missed the Kurt Vile show last week but for good cause, spent the evening with an old school crew that rarely finds us lucky enough to be in the same space, much less table at the same time.
Heres more before and after music, I like both.

I went home Thursday @1pm and dropped more pills/potions than I care to recall, choked down some soup and was passed out by 2pm. In between then and now, (Saturday 8am) Ive gotten up maybe 3 times to eat and pop more pills or gargle more witchcraft.
First thing I thought of this morning was bedsores and legions, none were there. No Scurvy either, looks like Im doing good. All this success reminded me of a song by The National which I will embed shortly.
I slept 36 hours through, that ALOT of time spent not trying to die OR: wasting away ones life. History is moving at such tremendous speed that its actually passing us by before we even get a chance to digest it (remember the old twitter argument years back, 140 characters or less?). The point is this: What in fuck will be on the news when I flick it on? Has the world finally splintered? Has China arisen? What great Doom will I see when I tentatively peer into the world, via cable tv?
Ok enough. Im gonna find out soon enough but before I do I might have a coffee, maybe even a little therapeutic reintroduction of vodka into the system? Im not out of the woods yet, but I am on the downhill slope and my body needs coffee and vodka, they are healing nectar’s, trust me.
Also Im missing are two cellphones and a bankbook.

A friend and I have had an ongoing conversation for years where we speculate the joys of the mentally bereft and thier incapacity to entertain cognizance vs. the joys of being aware and able-bodied. Today reminds me of that.

Build the remaining Hives, drink tea to cure the scourge in my chest, listen to folk music and pour a few drinks even.
